Families Make It! Collage (with NO paint brushes)
An art project to practice asking good questions!
In Kylee Makes a Collage, Kylee discovers that all her paint brushes are missing (stay until the verrrrrry end to find out where they went!). This leads to a search for non-conventional painting tools!
This is a great way to spend an afternoon with your kids. If you're worried about having to explain too many times that you don't want paint on certain things, you could go on your own preliminary hunt and pull together a box of items to experiment painting with and go from there. Here's some suggestions:
- Kitchen Sponge
- Straws (will work even better if you water down paint)
- Lids (stamps)
- Toothpicks or skewers
- Marbles (roll in paint)
- Tinfoil/Plastic Wrap (bunched up)
- String/Dental Floss
- Building Blocks (stamp)
- Toy cars
A great way to do this would be to grab some washable, non-toxic paint, a bin of stuff, and a huge piece of butcher paper or cardboard on the table or floor and just get in there! After the paint dries (after a nap perhaps?!), then you get a whole additional project! You get to pick out your favorite parts and cut them out. Glue them on to another piece of paper, cardboard, or a canvas to make an amazing collage!
As always, I'd love to see what you and your family discovered and created as you were inspired by this episode or post! Post and tag @kyleemakesit or use #kyleemakesit on Facebook or Instagram. I can't wait to see it!
